To celebrate her win in the pancake race, Millie and I decided to treat Gertrude to afternoon tea at Mousington Hall.
Millie said she could fiddle our expenses through the depot petty cash account, so it was no-holds-barred when it came to ordering the cakes, sweets and jellies.
Come late afternoon we were all too bilious to walk home so decided to take a short nap under a large oak in the Mousington grounds. At two in the morning we awoke to a pitch-black sky, but as luck would have it I had a brand new torch in my backpack. On the upside my new torch provided us with a glimmering path home, on the downside we had to bomb most of it at full pelt after being spotted by the local barn owl. Exhausted, we all crashed on the sofa until Millie, who’s an early riser, woke us midmorning with a restorative fry-up!
Have you ever had tea at somewhere as posh as Mousington Hall or fallen asleep in an unusual place after overdoing it? Have you ever been chased home by a sneaky raptor or fiddled the works expenses account? Morris would love to hear from you, so please feel free to hit the comments box.
Morris will get back to you mouse style.
