65 – National Picnic Week

June 1939

Dear Lucy,

Just a quick few lines to let you know that I’m still having a lovely time on Vent du Sud.

I made something of a time traveller’s ‘faux pas’ this week by accidentally mentioning that back in the 21st century it was #NationalPicnicWeek, consequently then having to give an explanation of the term hashtag without mentioning social media or computerised information retrieval systems.

To refrain from not irrevocably changing the course of history it is sometimes easier to just fail to mention that you’ve travelled from the future, although most mice, particularly those of the early ancient world, generally draw a whiff of suspicion from my liberal use of readily available 21st century grooming products.

Fortunately most of the islanders were more interested in the word picnic than hashtag and readily turned their attention to filling the day with a bountiful spread of local produce from every corner of the archipelago.

Morris would love to hear about whether you took part in National Picnic Week, so please feel free to drop him a line under his Instagram, Facebook or Twitter shares.
