Whilst I’ve been away Winston’s been busy tinkering about with a second-hand speedboat he acquired off Plumtree in exchange for a job lot of unwanted old toot cleared from his workshop.
Being a luxury double seated craft, I was pretty excited when Winston asked if I might like to accompany him on a test run down at Swan Lake, that was, until I discovered I’d be riding pillion on the water skiing practise bar attached to the side.
Not wanting to disappoint I agreed to try a couple of spins, but it wasn’t long before I came to the realisation that freezing cold pond water up the tail wasn’t really my thing.
As luck would have it, fortune really does favour the bold, as shortly after our fifth circuit we were called over by the pedalo hire mice who, due to receiving several customer complaints about the amount of wash we were kicking up, kindly offered to buy us both a full English breakfast at the lakeside café in exchange for us naffing off for the rest of the day.
After a bracing start it turned out to be quite a pleasant morning!
Have you ever tried any high-octane water sports or are you more of a pedalo person? Morris would love to hear if his blog has inspired any memories, please feel free drop him a line here or under his Instagram, Facebook or Twitter shares.
